The Steiner 8x22 Miniscope Monocular gives you a versatile optic that easily fits in just about any palm, pocket, or pack owing to its lightweight housing and folded design. To help compensate for the smaller objective, and to enhance its light-gathering capabilities, the optical surfaces are fully multicoated with Steiner's High Contrast Optics coatings. Its Porro prism configuration provides a depth of field that allows users to discern the relative positions of objects, making it easier to judge distances. To make its use even more hassle-free, the Miniscope is equipped with the Sports Auto Focus system that enables users to focus the eyepiece once, and maintain image sharpness from 13 feet to infinity without the need to manipulate a focus wheel.

I now own several 'miniaturized' optics of this genre - I enjoy a compact lightweight scope that can be carried easily and unobtrusively. This Steiner 8x22 meets expectations in as far as clarity and field of view....it focuses very easily and stays there....is extremely light and folds flat for storage. My biggest disappointment was in that the product write up describes this monocular as being focus-free past 13'. This is NOT the case - the focus wheel must be constantly manipulated as you view in varying ranges. Buyers should also be aware that the unit must be folded up for use - when flat it presents an upside down image. I had hoped to use it flat , but cannot. This monocular has great optics and good portability. Fits in a shirt pocket easily. The optics are surprisedly sharp and crisp for its small size. Although mine had a very small chip on the on the outside of the focusing ring I would still recommend this product. (Posted on 6/10/2017)Overall Score
