- Excellent Compact Binoculars
There are lots of choices for 8x20 compact binoculars, and I did considerable research. I chose the Leica Silverline model because of favorable (on-line, professional) comments about the helpfulness of their water resistance, the technology of nitrogen-fill to prevent the optics from fogging, and new concepts in eye-relief to provide easier viewing and clearer viewing fields.
The binoculars are terrific, but it cannot be denied that they are extraordinarily expensive. I can say this much: I have a 30-year-old pair of Nikon 8x20s, and the optics of the Leica Silverline are brighter and clearer. But cost-effectiveness? That's up to you! (Posted on 12/02/2018)
Esp like the diopter adjustment (as I have a 2.25 diopter difference between my left and right eye). The leather case is heavier than I anticipated, but I suppose it is necessary.to protect the lens. (Posted on 6/10/2017)
