    FAQ

    Q:
Is the Nikon Monarch 12x42 suitable for a person wearing glasses? As I want it mainly for bird watching, is this the most suitable?
    A:
The Nikon Monarch 12x42 has 15.4mm eye relief, which is just nice for eyeglass wearers. The best eye relief for eyeglass wearers is around 16mm or higher. For birdwatching, I'd recommend binoculars with a configuration of 8x40. This configuration gives the best balance of magnification and aperture. Birdwatchers usually go for lower magnifications, between 7x to 10x. From the Nikon Monarch range I'd recommend going for the Nikon Monarch 8x42 DCF (http://www.ozbinoculars.com.au/nikon-monarch-8x42-dcf-binoculars.html). This pair also gives better eye relief (19.6mm) which will be more comfortable for you as you wear glasses. If you prefer a higher magnification, you can go for the Nikon Monarch 10x42 (http://www.ozbinoculars.com.au/nikon-monarch-10x42-cf-binoculars.html) which also gives you a generous 19.6mm eye relief. Both would be much better than the 12x42 in terms of preferred magnification for birdwatching and eye relief.
